Curriculum

Child Centered
Little Buds Kindergarten focuses on letting the children make their own choices and have fun with their learning. We have various “learning centers” set up around the school (such as art, music, blocks, a reading corner, and so forth) to allow children to move from one activity to the next at their own will. We also use group activities like songs and games to introduce basic concepts. Our school encourages imagination and teaches basic social skills and personal responsibility by making each child accountable for cleaning up after him or herself at each learning center. In our programme, there is a lot of open dialogue between the teachers and the children. We believe that children of this age learn best in fun, positive environments where they’re allowed to learn at their own pace.

Developmental Appropriateness
Our programme has a vision of where children need to be (goals), know where children are at (assessment), and understand how to help them learn (lessons). Our activities, lessons and materials (toys, for example) corresponds with a child’s mental and physical learning ability. We are  aware of the appropriate development for our children and also understand the learning process required for our children to reach each milestone.

Theme Based Learning
Theme-based learning starts from the topics in a child’s daily life (school, family, food…). Our teachers prepare 3 weekly, theme-based learning plans that respond to the stages and interests of each individual child, as well as to the group as a whole. Daily schedules and other routines help nurture a child’s trust and confidence. Learning centers serve as hubs for activities related to pre-literacy, math, science, dramatic and sensory play, and art and music.

School Based Curriculum
Little Buds Kindergarten provides education support for Non-Chinese students. Our teachers are experienced in teaching and interacting with students of all nationalities. The school and its teachers recognize the difficulties for Non-Chinese students to learn the Chinese language. Accordingly, our teachers have designed a tailor-made School Based Chinese Curricula for the Non-Chinese students to learn the language effectively and efficiently using creative approaches such as learning through songs and body movements. We believe it is very important for the non- Chinese student to be bilingual and fluent in both English and Chinese (Cantonese). Consequently, the medium of instruction of their classes has also been divided into two languages.
